Why You Need To Focus On Building A Business Instead Of Getting A High-Salary Job

Having a lot of money is everyone’s goal in life.  Even if you feel “money is the root of all evil”, as mentioned in the book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, “A lack of money is the root of all evil”.  A lot of the evil people have a lot of money and they use that money to do more evil to the undeserving.  So naturally, if someone offers you millions of dollars to join, let’s say, a football team, and you want to stand up for certain issues, you can risk all types of fines and even getting kicked off the team.  When you have your own business, even if you’re only making a few hundred bucks a month, you have more power than someone with that a high-salary job.

Not only do you want to have the ability to do your own thing when you have a business, but you get a lot of tax breaks that the average employees doesn’t get.  Being an employee, the more money you make, the more taxes you pay.  So when you are making millions of dollars a year, you may want to use that money and start investing in businesses so you can start keeping a lot of that money, and also, get certain tax breaks.  It’s not always how much money you make, but how much you get to keep.

When you build a business, you are also building a potential legacy.  There are companies that have been around for hundreds of years.  The original founder of the company may be dead and gone and his descendants are taking care of the business.  The Coca-Cola Company has been around since the late 1800s.  The Ford Motor Company has been around since the early 1900s.  These companies are around to this day and, of course, the original founders are dead and gone, but theses companies are still making billions of dollars a year.  You don’t need to be a huge corporation to pass down a legacy to your children and grandchildren.  You can groom your children or grandchildren to take over the business, so when you’re dead and gone, the business can still keep taking care of your family.  You can take care of and provide for your family from the grave.

Building a business is not a guaranteed paycheck.  By taking the high-paying job route, you are pretty much guaranteed a check for your efforts.  When you build a business, there may be times that you’re working for hours on end for free.  The beauty about starting a business, you have so much control and power that the high-paying employee doesn’t really have.  When your business finally does make money, and if set up the right way, can keep a lot of that money.

Being an entrepreneur is a path of uncertainty.  On your journey to entrepreneurship, you’ll need a solid foundation of real confidence.
